The 1970 Shelby GT-500

The story behind the 1970 Shelby GT-500 is unusual. After Shelby Mustang production transitioned to Ford for 1969, a number of cars remained unsold at the end of the model year. These remaining cars were converted into 1970 models, receiving new serial numbers along with distinctive black hood stripes and a front chin spoiler.

A total of 789 cars were converted, marking the end of the original Shelby Mustang era. Revell's kit captures these unique details while also allowing builders to recreate the earlier 1969 configuration. 

Detailed 428 Cobra Jet V8

At the heart of this model is a highly detailed 428 Cobra Jet V8, paired with a four-speed manual transmission.

The engine is reproduced as a multi-part assembly, giving builders plenty of opportunities to add realistic colors, metallic finishes, hoses, and other details. Once completed, the engine compartment becomes one of the visual highlights of the finished Shelby. 

Build It as a 1969 or 1970 Shelby

One of the biggest advantages of this 2’N1 kit is the ability to build two different versions of the Shelby GT-500.

To create the 1970 model, builders can install the newly tooled front spoiler and apply the signature black hood stripes included on the new decal sheet.

Alternatively, these parts can be omitted to create a 1969 Shelby GT-500, giving collectors two distinct configurations from the same kit. 

Aggressive Shelby Styling

The Shelby GT-500's muscular bodywork is recreated with careful attention to the characteristic details that distinguish it from a standard Mustang.

The kit contains 112 parts, is recommended for ages 12 and up, and is molded in white, transparent red, and clear plastic with chrome-plated components and soft black tires. The finished model measures approximately 7.75 inches (19.7 cm) long.
