Built during a period of intense rivalry between European powers, the vessel was designed to demonstrate Sweden's growing naval strength and support its military ambitions in the Baltic Sea.

The Vasa was renowned for its impressive size, extensive artillery, and extraordinary decorative features. Its exterior was adorned with hundreds of sculptures, many originally painted in vivid colors and enhanced with gilded details. These decorations reflected the ship's royal significance and were intended to communicate the power and prestige of the Swedish monarchy.

Tragically, the Vasa sank on August 10, 1628, during its maiden voyage in Stockholm harbor. After sailing only a short distance, the ship became unstable, took on water through its open gunports, and sank. The disaster exposed the difficulties of designing a heavily armed sailing vessel with insufficient stability.

More than three centuries later, the Vasa was successfully salvaged in 1961 after spending 333 years underwater. Its remarkable preservation made it one of the world's most important surviving historic ships. Today, the original vessel is displayed at the Vasa Museum in Stockholm, Sweden, where visitors can explore its history and extraordinary craftsmanship.

Impressive 1:150 Scale Dimensions

The Revell Vasa model is built at a 1:150 scale, recreating the proportions and distinctive appearance of the historic Swedish warship.
